AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

Your new tattoo is an open wound and therefore needs to be cared for correctly. We recommend the following aftercare instructions to ensure the best healing results.

STEP ONE:
Before leaving the studio, your artist will wrap your new tattoo in cling wrap. You can remove the cling wrap after 1-2 hours. Wash your tattoo in warm water. Use only your hands (no wash cloths or cotton pads) and gently remove all traces of blood to prevent scabs forming. Do not rewrap the tattoo, allow it to air dry.

STEP TWO:
Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel. It is important to let your tattoo breathe for the next two days before the peeling stage. We recommend washing your tattoo with warm water, morning and evening for the next 24-48 hours.

STEP THREE:
After 24-48 hours, gently wash your tattoo with our Dr Pickles tattoo soap and pat dry then apply aftercare balm. Repeat this morning and night for 2 weeks or until your tattoo is healed.

Your tattoo is likely to peel. DO NOT pick or pull off the flakes as you can pull out ink of the healing tattoo. This will affect the healing process. This will likely happen within the first 4-7 days and once again within the two weeks.

It is crucial that you keep the tattoo CLEAN during this healing time.

IMPORTANT TIPS:
- Ensure you have clean bed sheets
- Be mindful of hygiene around pets
- Wear loose clothing to avoid rubbing on the tattoo

Do not go swimming in chlorinated or salt water until the tattoo has finished healing. Ensuring you are keeping it as clean as possible.

Avoid long exposure to sunlight as much as possible until the tattoo has completely healed. Using SPF 50+ after the tattoo has healed will help to look after the skin and prevent the tattoo from fading.

Do not pick or scratch scabs or flakes. This can cause serious infections and result in scarring.
